The people of Syria have been caught up in eight years of bitter internal conflict in their country. During that time, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, towns and cities have been reduced to rubble and over 5.6 million Syrians have been forced to flee for safety to neighboring countries and beyond.
These families are now living in cities, informal settlements or camps in unfamiliar lands, unsure of what lies ahead. As they settle into new lives, many face challenges finding work or meeting even their most basic needs. As a result, huge numbers rely on humanitarian aid like food, medicine, shelter and clothing.
Despite their struggle and the trauma they’ve lived through, refugees show amazing strength and resilience and will do whatever they can to build a safe and dignified future for themselves and their families. Now is the time for us to stand with them, and help them do just that.
